We keep overhead low and are working it lower, and Zakat carries none of it at all. The administration we do have is paid for out of general Sadaqah and out of board members' own pockets, never from restricted gifts.

The rules we hold ourselves to.
100% Zakat policy
Zakat is held in a segregated account and never touched for overhead or fees. Payment processing costs are met from our separate general funds.
Two sets of eyes on the money
Disbursements are reviewed by the board rather than run by one person. Field distributions come back with photographs before a record is closed.
Board members are excluded as recipients
Board members and their immediate families can never receive Zakat or program funds. That exclusion is written into our conflict-of-interest policy.
Published to the cent
Verified distributions go up on our public ledger as they clear, rather than waiting for a year-end summary.

These numbers follow the Ihsan Standard, an independent transparency and Zakat methodology for Muslim institutions, covering how funds are segregated, how overhead is disclosed, and how distributions are verified.
