Sadaqah Jariyah
Give once.
Give forever.
The Jabal Legacy Waqf is a permanent endowment. Your principal is preserved and never spent, while the returns fund Jabal programs year after year, long after you are gone.
The endowment, live
A foundation that compounds.
No principal has been placed yet. The first gifts into the Waqf will show here, and every figure on this page publishes straight from our ledger once the endowment holds anything.
This page reads straight from our operations ledger, which currently holds no endowment.
Understanding Waqf
What is a Waqf?
A Waqf (وقف) is an Islamic endowment: an asset placed in trust for charitable purposes in perpetuity. Unlike a one-time donation, the principal of a Waqf is never spent. Only the returns (investment income, rental income, and the like) are distributed for charitable purposes, year after year, forever.
The great mosques, hospitals, and schools of Islamic civilization were built on Waqf. Al-Qarawiyyin in Fez, Al-Azhar in Cairo, the Nuri hospital in Damascus, the Ottoman imarets: all were sustained by Waqf endowments that outlived their founders by centuries.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: “When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” A Waqf is the most literal form of Sadaqah Jariyah.
﴿إِذَا مَاتَ الْإِنسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ﴾
“When a person dies, all their deeds end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.”

Our Endowment
The Jabal Legacy Waqf
The Jabal Legacy Waqf is Jabal Foundation's permanent endowment fund. Contributions are invested conservatively, mainly in halal-screened funds and sukuk instruments, and the annual returns pay for our ongoing programs. We also screen against the BDS list, so the endowment is not invested in companies implicated in the occupation or in other harm to the communities we serve.
As the Waqf grows, it gives Jabal Foundation an income that does not rise and fall with the fundraising calendar. A $100,000 Waqf, invested at a conservative 5% return, generates $5,000/year, which covers roughly half of what Ummah Corps costs to run for a year, every year, without us asking anyone for it.
A $1,000,000 Waqf generates $50,000/year. That would run Ummah Corps four times over, or underwrite about seven weeks of the Indonesia meal distribution, permanently.

AfterFund.co Partnership
Waqf administration partner
The Jabal Legacy Waqf is administered in partnership with AfterFund.co, an Islamic fintech platform built for Waqf and estate giving by Muslim American donors. AfterFund manages the investment vehicle and the compliance side. Jabal Foundation decides where the charitable disbursements go.
Donors give through a dedicated portal, where you can see your balance, the returns it has accumulated, and where those returns were spent.
